Today I’m on the road for a business meeting. When you add it all up, it’s a large time investment for a two-hour presentation. Even for a nearby city, flying adds so many hurdles because of all the steps involved. Such a simple event creates so much disruption in your life.
These trips can be fun. It’s a chance to briefly see another city and compare the slight culture differences within America. Meet new people, and hopefully eat some good food.
Today I’m thankful that I don’t have to do these trips too often. Living on the road would be so tough. My college friends who went into consulting travel every week! I can’t imagine living like that - fly to the client on Monday, stay there all week, then fly home Thursday or Friday night.
It would be so much more difficult to manage a social life with all the time on the road. The cadence I have of a brief trip every month is a great balance - some variety, but easy to plan around and not a burden.
